One of the most important feature included in CookieHub is the cookie scan. It enables the system to remove cookies when cookie categories are blocked and allows us to automatically generate a cookie declaration for you web site.
When a domain is created in the CookieHub portal you have the option to enable or disable cookie scanning. This can be enabled or disabled later but a cookie scan is required to upgrade the domain to premium subscription as the pricing depends on the number of active pages within the scanned domain.
How does it work?
When a domain is created in the portal and cookie scanning is enabled, our scanners will crawl your entire web site and collect information on cookies used on the web site along with details like expiration, hostname, path.
Every 30 days your web site is scanned to check if there have been any changes in the cookies used on your web site and any change is automatically published to your cookie declaration.
We maintain a database of cookies detected, categorize them and provide details on the purpose of each cookie. You can easily change category assignments and description about each cookie in the CookieHub portal by clicking the Cookies tab for each domain.
Why do you scan the whole web site?
We scan the whole web site for two reason:
- Although most cookies are set for all pages within your web site, some may only be set in certain pages or section. In most cases, only scanning the front page will not detect all cookies used.
- CookieHub premium subscriptions are billed by the number of active pages detected on the domain.
