How to enable legitimate interests by default
When using the IAB TCF (Transparency and Consent Framework) policy framework in CookieHub, you can control whether purposes and features that rely on legitimate interest are allowed immediately or require explicit consent from the user.
If you want legitimate interests to be allowed by default, you need to ensure that the setting Require explicit consent for legitimate interests is unchecked.
Important behavior when enabled by default
When this setting is unchecked:
- On initialization – If the user has not yet interacted with the consent banner, CookieHub will notify TCF that legitimate interests are allowed.
- This means that vendors relying on legitimate interest can process data until the user makes a choice.
- To revoke legitimate interests, the user must explicitly opt out via the banner or preference center.
Steps to enable legitimate interests by default
- Go to your CookieHub dashboard and open your domain.
- Click Customize in the top-right corner.
- Select the Preference center tab.
Find the setting labeled:
Require explicit consent for legitimate interests
- Make sure this checkbox is unchecked.
- Click Save & Publish to apply your changes.
Result
With this setting disabled, CookieHub will initialize with legitimate interests already allowed. Users will need to actively deny them in order to withdraw this consent.
