CookieHub 2.7 introduces critical updates to meet new privacy requirements from Google and the IAB, including full support for Consent Mode v2 and IAB TCF 2.2. These changes are essential for websites using Google advertising products in the EEA and UK.
Why this update is important
Starting January 16, 2024, Google requires publishers using AdSense, Ad Manager, or AdMob to:
- Use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) integrated with IAB’s Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF).
- Enable Consent Mode v2 for personalized ads in compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
By March 6, 2024, Consent Mode v2 must be implemented for continued use of personalized advertising and remarketing in the EEA.

Action required
To benefit from these updates, please:
- Update the CookieHub widget if using manual implementation.
- Update the WordPress plugin to the latest version.
- Enable Consent Mode v2 in dashboard settings.
- Activate IAB TCF 2.2 if required for Google Ads and programmatic advertising.
How to enable Consent Mode v2
For manual HTML/JavaScript implementation
- Go to My domains in the dashboard.
- Open the domain and enable Consent Mode v2 in Settings.
- Update your implementation code under Implementation → Manually insert the code.
- Replace your old script with the new production code.
- Ensure the marketing category description matches Google’s policy or reset it to default.
For WordPress
- Update the CookieHub WordPress plugin to the latest version.
- Enable Consent Mode v2 in plugin settings under Advanced Settings.
- Ensure marketing category text complies with Google’s policy.
For Google Tag Manager
- Download the updated CookieHub GTM template from the dashboard.
- Import it into your container using Merge.
- Publish changes in GTM.
How to enable IAB TCF 2.2
- Ensure your domain uses Business or Enterprise plan.
- In the dashboard, go to Settings → Regional settings.
- Select IAB TCF 2.2 as the policy framework for the EEA.
- Update vendor list to IAB GVL 3 & Google ATP.
- Save changes and republish.
- For manual integration, replace implementation code with the updated version.
- For GTM integration, ensure the TCF stub is included:
