Consent log
The consent log in CookieHub tracks and stores users’ consent decisions to meet compliance requirements under regulations such as GDPR. This feature helps businesses demonstrate valid consent but does not collect or store sensitive personal information unless the feature is enabled.
Purpose of the consent log
The consent log is designed to:
- Provide proof of user consent in compliance with GDPR Article 7.1
- Support audit requirements for data protection authorities
- Help businesses maintain transparency and accountability
Data retention
All consent log entries are retained for 12 months by default. After this period, they are automatically deleted in accordance with CookieHub’s data retention policies. Businesses can adjust the retention period in the CookieHub dashboard.
Security measures
Consent log data is stored in a secure vault separate from other CookieHub services. It is protected by encryption and strict access controls to prevent unauthorized access.
What data does the consent log store?
CookieHub collects only the minimal data necessary to demonstrate consent. This includes:
| Property | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Token | A unique identifier linked to the user’s consent settings |
| URL | The page URL where consent was given |
| Widget revision | Version of the widget used during consent |
| IP address | An anonymized IP address for regional compliance |
| Country | Derived from the anonymized IP address |
| User agent | Browser and device information for audit verification |
Privacy considerations
- IP addresses are anonymized to prevent user identification.
- CookieHub does not store personally identifiable information (PII) beyond what is necessary for consent tracking.
